Referral process
1. Initial contact
An enquiry is made by a SENCO/Professional via email or phone.
2. Information review
We will review the information and arrange a conversation to ensure Beacon is the right provision.
3. Meeting
We meet the young person (and parent/carer where appropriate)
4. Funding agreement
If the placement is considered suitable:

The SENCo submits a request to the 0–25 Team for funding, or
-
For EOTAS arrangements, Devon County Council must agree and commission the provision
5. Transition begins and a flexible, personalised timetable is allocated
Once funding is agreed, a personalised timetable is allocated.
Availability
We offer a limited number of placements to ensure each student receives a high level of support.
Availability can change, so we recommend getting in touch to discuss current options and timelines.
When Beacon May Not Be Suitable
We aim to ensure every placement is appropriate and effective.
Beacon may not be the right fit if:

A student requires a highly specialist or clinical setting

Needs would be better supported in an alternative provision or school setting
If we feel another provision would be more suitable, we will always be honest and, where possible, help guide you towards other options.
Parent enquiries
We understand that parents and carers may be looking for support when their child is finding education difficult.
While most referrals to Beacon Provision are made through schools or local authorities, we are happy to speak with parents who would like to find out more about our provision.
If you are concerned about your child’s education, we recommend:

Speaking with your child’s school or SENCO

Discussing whether alternative provision may be appropriate
