A different Approach

Across Devon, much Alternative Provision is delivered through outdoor or activity-based models.
At Beacon, we offer a different approach: a small, calm, indoor-based learning environment designed to help young people reconnect with education.

Why Beacon Is Different

  • Small group and 1:1 sessions (typically 2–5 pupils)

  • A predictable, structured environment

  • Flexible, individualised programmes

  • Academic learning alongside emotional development

  • Support tailored to each student’s pace and needs

  • Strong emphasis on rebuilding relationships with education

  • Consistent, relationship-led support

  • Focus on sustainable re-engagement, not short-term engagement

We are not an activity-led provision, but learning at Beacon is not limited to traditional academic work. Through our half-termly themes, we create opportunities for students to engage in a range of subjects in a practical and meaningful way.

This approach allows us to build on individual interests, develop confidence, and support young people to reconnect with education.
