What we offer

Beacon provides a small, calm and supportive learning environment for young people who are finding it difficult to engage in mainstream education.
We work with a limited number of pupils at a time, allowing us to offer individualised support, flexible planning and strong relationships with trusted adults. Our aim is to help young people feel safe, rebuild confidence and reconnect with learning in a way that feels meaningful, achievable and sustainable.
Our provision can include:
-
English and Maths up to GCSE level
-
Functional Skills qualifications
-
AQA Unit Award Scheme certificates
-
Practical, useful-for-life science linked to everyday understanding, health, the environment and the world around us
-
Biology up to GCSE level where pupils are able, interested and ready to engage
-
Themed projects including science, history, geography, RE and creative elements
-
Life skills and preparation for adulthood, including cooking, budgeting, independence and practical problem-solving
-
Personal development, confidence-building and emotional regulation
-
A consistent, low-stimulation environment
-
Relationship-led, trauma-informed support
-
Flexible, personalised programmes based on each pupil’s needs, interests and readiness to learn
We are now an approved provider of the AQA Unit Award Scheme, which allows us to formally recognise and celebrate the learning, skills and progress our young people achieve. This fits closely with our life skills programme and gives pupils the opportunity to build a portfolio of success across practical, academic, creative and personal development areas.
At Beacon, we know that progress looks different for every young person. For some, it may be completing written work or preparing for qualifications. For others, it may be joining a group activity, cooking a meal, managing a difficult moment, trying something new, or beginning to believe they are capable again.
Every step forward matters, and we want our young people to see and feel proud of what they are achieving.
